Why do people kiss?

People kiss primarily because they're conditioned to by their culture. Which is good news for all of us? In the United States , as well as the rest of the Western Hemisphere and Europe , people actually feel an unconscious obligation to kiss when they find themselves in a romantic situation. This is one of the most useful discoveries I made in my research. Members of the oppo site sex are out there just waiting to kiss. It's almost like they've been programmed to do it. And once you realize this, you can get a lot more kisses and enjoy kissing more.

This conditioning or cultural programming occurs on a daily basis. People see actors kissing on television, in movies, and in advertisements. They hear stories about friends and lovers kissing. They see people kissing in public. As a result, they expect that kissing will occur in certain situations. When they find themselves in a romantic situation, those unconscious forces will be brought into play-they'll feel an almost irresistible impulse to kiss, whether they consciously want to or not!
